May 2008: earthBorn takes part in Ideal Home Show
earthBorn was invited to participate in this years Ideal Home Show at the Earls Court in London, where the main theme was that of sustainability. Oliver Heath headlined the 2008 show and was involved heavily in the design of the main eco home which formed the central attraction. Located in Hall two, the house was designed to highlight issues surrounding green topics such as energy conservation and recycling. earthBorn contributed Claypaint for use in the living room and bedroom areas of the show, and Oliver selected Wool Blanket from his Eco Chic range as the main colour. The show received over 280,000 visitors and was a fantastic showcase for earthBorn.

Paint was also featured in the Madame Tussauds area which was one of the main attractions of the show. Five luxurious bathrooms fit for A-list celebrities were created. earthBorn emulsion was used by the show designers in Leonardo DiCaprio’s ‘Eco Friendly Bathroom’, which helped raised the brand profile to that of celebrity status and a few eyebrows into the bargain!

March 2008: earthBorn receives ‘spectacular’ product review

SmartPlanet, the online green product review company, has recognised the “really classy” and “spectacular” credentials of earthBorn paints, following a comprehensive review of its Eco Chic range.

SmartPlanet’s independent expert review team judged the paints on how environmentally-friendly they are, how ethically they are produced, how they perform and whether they are good value for money.

With one “good-very good” and three “spectacular” ratings, the overall editors’ score for earthBorn was “excellent-spectacular”.

November 2007: Eco Chic Claypaint top with judges

Eco paints are gaining real momentum among consumers and our Eco Chic range has been voted Best Eco Collection of the Year by House Beautiful magazine.

The range, developed with TV designer Oliver Heath, was the judges’ favourite because, they said, it gives customers an easy way to make an eco choice within the home.

Commenting on the success, Oliver said: “It’s excellent that people recognise the value of using VOC free paints in their homes.”

John Dison added: “We are delighted with this award. The growing coverage in the media is reinforcing earthBorn as the leading eco paint brand in the UK.”

December 2006: The new VOCs in Paints Regs

ZERO VOC content in earthBorn Claypaint, Emulsion and proAqua

The new Regulations come into effect on Ist Jan 2006.  The Regulations set maximum VOC levels for most types of paints and also require the content to be stated on paint label.  Whilst earthBorn welcomes the Regulations we feel that the permitted VOC levels are, in most cases, too lenient.  We are delighted to be able to put a big 'ZERO VOC content' label on our principle ranges (Claypaint, Emulsion and proAqua).  This declaration allows consumers to compare the VOC content of earthBorn paints with conventional paints and other 'natural' paints.   It is also important for consumers to remember that not all LOW or VOC FREE paints are the same and that paints can (and normally do) contain other 'nasties' such as acrylic softeners and high level of preservatives.

June 2006: earthBorn wins 'Best DIY or Decorating Product'

The uniquie features of earthBorn proAqua Varnish were recognised at the prestigous, annual 'House Beautiful' Awards when it carried away the 'BEST DIY or Decorating Product' award.  Details of the award can be found in this month's 'House Beautiful' magazine confirming that the product is "truly the first of its kind". 

June 2006: Extended colour ranges

To the sound of corks popping, earthBorn launched it's much awaited new and extended colour ranges at this year's Grand Designs Live! Show.  By popular demand the Claypaint range has been extended to 20 colours enabling it to continue to set the pace for contemporary style whilst retaining your favourite, traditional colours.  Alongside the Claypaint is a new range of Emulsion colours.  earthBorn Emulsion was previously available only in white and bespoke colours. 

June 2006: Grand Designs Live! Exhibition

The quality, performance and colours of our paints rarely go unoticed but even we were surprised at the attention earthBorn received at this year's Grand Designs Live! Show at London's ExCel Centre.   People were not only impressed by our new colour ranges but also by the new eye catching stand that our designers had created.

May 2006: earthBorn launch proAqua Eggshell

This spring earthBorn has launched its unique proAqua Eggshell paint for interior or exterior woodwork.  proAqua Eggshell (like proAqua Varnish) is water soluble but unlike other water based paints on the market is TOTALLY free from oils and acrylic softeners.  It is quick drying, odour free and certified as having no harmful emmissions ..... so is not to be confused with less environmentally friendly water based coatings on the market.   The product has been exceptionally well received by tradespeople looking for a quality water soluble product as well as by lifestyle magazines and the Green press.

September 2005: National Painting & Decorating Show

earthBorn are becoming regular exhibitors at this annual trade show and we will be flying the flag for eco paints again this year.  Rapidly increasing interest in eco products, and earthBorn paints in particular, means our team are in for a busy time.  Come and see us at Stand 142 at Sandown Park Exhibition Centre, Esher, Surrey on 27th & 28th September (09:30 to 16:30)

August 2005: earthBorn Claypaint awarded the EU Ecolabel

The Department of Environment Food and Rural Affairs has awarded earthBorn Claypaint the prestigious Ecolabel 'Flower' symbol.  earthBorn Claypaint is the only UK paint brand to carry the accreditation.  The accreditation is awarded to goods and services which meet the strict environmental requirements of the EU ecolabelling scheme. 

August 2005: NEW earthBorn website goes live

Intended for stockists, users and specifiers alike, the new website offers a host of improved features, from FAQs for the ‘green’ DIY consumer to online product data sheets. Have a good ‘nose around’ and let us know what you think. Hopefully, it will enthuse and educate.
