The high clay content helps to destroy airborne odours and contaminants and is also proven to emit negative ions which are widely accepted as being beneficial to our health. Clay based paints also help to balance out humidity levels in a room as they are moisture absorbing. earthBorn is the only UK paint brand to be awarded the Ecolabel flower symbol awarded by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs for its Claypaint range.
The proAqua exterior eggshell paints are totally VOC, acrylic and oil free and have virtually no odour, making them safer and far more pleasant to use. As well as defending against the weather and being water-repellent, the proAqua Eggshells also have UV resistant pigments to protect wood against discolouration.

Substituting petrochemical based oils with naturally sounding citrus oils is not an effective solution because the paints still contain volatile organic compounds.
